Winstead PC is pleased to announce that a transaction the firm completed on behalf of client Travis County was selected as a finalist in two categories for a national Public Private Partnership (P3) 2020 Award sponsored by the P3 Bulletin, an organization that provides intelligence to leaders in the public and private sectors that form partnerships to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain public infrastructure.

Winstead represented Travis County in connection with the procurement, financing and development of a new family and civil courthouse complex to be located in Downtown Austin. The project was procured using a turnkey design-build delivery model pursuant to a short-term ground lease. The construction financing for the project came from traditional bank financing through the developer. The City purchased the courthouse project using public funds pursuant to the terms of a purchase agreement. The transaction was closed on April 9, 2020. The Winstead team included Bob Burton, David Dawson, Robert Bass, and Jeff Nydegger.

The project is a finalist in the “Best Social Infrastructure Project” and “Public Sector Promoter/Procurer of the Year” categories. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in January 2021.
