Sheila Melo is a member of the Finance & Lending Practice Group in Winstead’s Houston office. Sheila focuses her practice on representing financial institutions in a wide array of credit transactions, including real estate secured loans and other commercial and industrial credit facilities. Sheila's experience includes representing lenders in financing the acquisition, development and construction of real estate projects, including multi-family, mixed-use, retail and industrial projects. Prior to practicing law, Sheila was a paralegal where she gained added experience and insights into all aspects of these types of loan transactions.

Sheila also provides representation in specialized transactions such as:

  • Vessel, aircraft and railcar financing
  • Automobile franchise lending (including floor plan)
  • Ex-Im Bank lending including guaranty enforcement issues
  • SBA lending including guaranty enforcement issues
  • Transactions secured by assets located in foreign countries
  • Foreclosure of both real and personal property

Experience

Representation of banks as administrative agent in working capital loans and term loan credit facilities:

  • $150 million revolving credit facilities secured by notes receivable, inventory and equipment located in Texas

Representative single bank transactions:

  • $26.5 million credit facilities secured by property located in various states throughout the Southwest and Southeast
  • $40 million vessel secured loan
  • $79 million multi-family development and construction

Representative workout and foreclosure transactions:

  • Foreclosure on retail building located in Harris County, Texas
  • Foreclosure on personal property located throughout Texas
