Micah King is a shareholder at Winstead PC who focuses on land use, real estate development, and construction law. Micah regularly represents clients before city councils, boards, environmental and zoning commissions, and commissioners courts.

As a former Assistant City Attorney for the City of Austin, he has also gained valuable experience in governmental affairs to help solve challenging issues and achieve numerous zoning and Board of Adjustment appeals and variances. Micah has worked throughout Texas on issues ranging from entitlements for thousands of units of housing to due diligence for billions of dollars in private development and P3 projects.

Representative Experience

  • Helped confirm permitting compliance for the construction of a $2+ billion water infrastructure project that is part of a Public Private Partnership (P3).
  • Advised on $30 million Water Control Improvement District project.
  • Guided client through year-long procurement process to secure a multimillion-dollar contract with a large municipality.
  • Advised on development of high-density, low-income residential housing project (300+ units).
  • Advised client on water rights issues on the Blanco River in the Texas Hill Country.
  • Responded to numerous open records requests under the Public Information Act for various governmental and private sector clients.
  • Helped secure approval for a landmark pedestrian bridge over Austin’s Downtown light rail station.
  • Helped secure Board of Adjustment variances for the construction of a new hotel recognized by Condé Nast Traveler as one of “The Coolest Boutique Hotels in Austin.”
  • Regularly leads negotiations with neighbors and other stakeholders in rezoning cases.
  • Successfully appealed a City Staff determination in a case involving vested rights.
  • Drafted ordinances related to city regulations of transportation network companies and other pieces of legislation that are now law.
