Winstead Expands Litigation Platform with Four Attorneys from Houston Labor & Employment Boutique
HOUSTON, Nov. 28, 2017, — Veteran litigators Cary Farris and John Linker, along with two labor and employment associates, bring their national employment litigation practice to Winstead’s Houston office. Farris and Linker, previously partners with Houston labor and employment boutique Alaniz Schraeder Linker Farris Mayes, L.L.P., join the firm as shareholders.
Farris and Linker have extensive experience with federal cases in multiple district courts, appellate courts and the United States Supreme Court in a variety of labor and employment matters. In addition, both are seasoned in guiding clients through government agency investigations and enforcement audits. They bring labor and employment associates Taylor Kilway and Karolina Murguia with them in the move.

Farris litigates cases in various federal courts on a variety of labor and employment matters. He also counsels clients regarding government agency audits and matters involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Farris represents clients ranging from manufacturers with nationwide facilities to small businesses seeking practical solutions to labor and employment issues and has significant experience in class actions, including multiple class certification hearings and appeals. He received his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1998 and is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Linker has extensive experience litigating in state and federal courts regarding complex employment matters and class action cases, focusing on litigation prevention, wrongful terminations, unemployment claims, breach of contract matters, discrimination defense and wage and hour issues. He is experienced guiding clients though investigations by government agencies such as the Office of Federal Contract Compliance (OFCCP), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). John received his J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law in 1992, and is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Taylor Kilway advises public and private companies regarding federal and state laws and regulations governing the workplace. She also counsels and advises human resources executives and management on compliance with labor and employment laws. Taylor received her J.D. from Baylor Law School in 2014.
Karolina Murguia advises regional, national and international employers on immigration strategies, compliance and matters related to visas, foreign investors, immigration, customs and naturalization. Karolina received her J.D. from University of Houston Law Center in 2014.
