This session will explore the fundamental principles and best practices that every attorney who serves on a nonprofit board should know, including the difference between governance and management as a board member. This session will define the three legal duties of board service: the duty of loyalty, the duty of care, and the duty of obedience. Attendees will learn the top ten roles and responsibilities of board members with a special focus on the attorney’s unique roles and contributions. Learn what you can expect as an attorney on a nonprofit board and how to navigate the ethical dilemmas and risks you may encounter.

This course has been approved for MCLE credit by the State Bar of Texas Committee on MCLE in the amount of 1.5 credit hours, of which .5 credit hours will apply to legal ethics/professional responsibility credit.
