Shareholder James Ruiz Elected to Board of Directors

Austin, TX, Mar. 28, 2014 — Winstead PC has elected shareholder James Ruiz to the firm’s Board of Directors, effective Apr. 1, 2014. Ruiz serves as co-chair of both Winstead’s Financial Services Industry practice group and Winstead's Business Litigation Practice, representing a diverse group of clients including national banking institutions, real estate companies, and high-tech businesses. He has nearly 25 years of experience advising clients on matters ranging from banking and real estate, to intellectual property, to securities and insurance.

In the community, Ruiz serves as a board member for the YMCA of Austin, Metropolitan Board. He is also a former board member of the March of Dimes State Executive Committee, the Ballet Austin, and Planet Cancer. Ruiz is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, Austin Bar Association, and the City of Austin's Ethics Review Commission. He is a Founding Life Fellow of the Austin Bar Foundation, and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Ruiz received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, and is fluent in Spanish.
