Winstead's Thomas J. Forestier Named Trustee of Lone Star College System
Houston, TX, Feb. 1, 2011 – Shareholder Thomas J. Forestier has been named a trustee of the Lone Star College System (LSCS). He was one of three finalists selected for the position and was appointed by the Board of Trustees in a special meeting held Jan. 27, 2011. Forestier will be sworn in at the regular Board meeting scheduled for Feb. 3, 2011.
With more than 69,000 students in credit classes for fall 2010, and a total enrollment of more than 85,000, LSCS is the largest institution of higher education in the Houston region and the fastest-growing community college system in Texas. Dr. Richard Carpenter is the chancellor of LSCS, which consists of five colleges including LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball, and six centers: LSC-University Park, LSC-University Center at Montgomery, LSC-University Center at University Park, Lone Star Corporate College, and LSC-Online.
Forestier is the managing shareholder of Winstead's Houston Office and he is a member of Winstead's Energy & Environmental Law and Business Litigation Practice Groups. He is recognized for his experience in representing such varied organizations as energy companies, banks, television stations, newspaper publishers, condemning authorities, landowners and developers and insurance companies.

In the legal community, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston and is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Racial Diversity in the Profession Committee of the State Bar of Texas. He is also a Life Fellow of the Texas and Houston Bar Foundations. In addition to many other positions in community and educational organizations, Forestier serves as General Counsel and a board member for the Houston Golf Association and is a life member of the Texas Union Advisory Council, appointed by the University of Texas Board of Regents. Named a Texas Super Lawyer and Top Lawyer by H Texas magazine, Forestier received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law.
