Corinne S. Smith Earns Top Healthcare Management Credential
Winstead PC Shareholder Corinne S. Smith, FACHE, Austin, Texas recently achieved recertification as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders.
Corinne is a member of Winstead’s Healthcare Industry Group, and with nearly two decades of providing sophisticated legal services to healthcare clients she has developed a technical acumen encompassing all aspects of the healthcare industry. Corinne has years of experience advising healthcare industry clients on all aspects of federal and state regulatory matters, including compliance with fraud and abuse laws and HIPAA regulations, as well as licensure, accreditation and certification requirements. She frequently serves as outside general counsel to healthcare providers on a range of daily operational matters.
“The healthcare management field plays a vital role in providing high-quality care to the people in our communities, which makes having a standard of excellence promoted by a professional organization critically important,” says Deborah J. Bowen, FACHE, CAE, president and CEO of ACHE. “By becoming an ACHE Fellow and earning the distinction of board certification from ACHE, healthcare leaders demonstrate a commitment to excellence in serving patients and the community.”
Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. Only 8,866 healthcare executives hold this distinction and only a very small number of attorneys achieve Fellow status. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including holding a master’s degree in healthcare administration, earning continuing education hours, demonstrating professional/community involvement and passing a comprehensive examination. Fellows also are committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years. Corinne is privileged to bear the FACHE® credential, which signifies board certification in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow.
