Winstead PC is proud to once again sponsor the Texas A&M New Ventures Competition (TNVC). Due to COVID-19, the event will take place entirely online this year May 13-14.
Aimed at promoting the commercialization of emerging technology to the marketplace, TNVC works with entrepreneurs in Texas to ensure that today’s innovative ideas become a reality. The competition recognizes engineering- and science-based technology companies with high-growth potential and provides seed funding to help them take their ideas to market. To date, TNVC has awarded $1.5 million in prizes and prior year’s semi-finalists have raised more than $195 million.
Winstead attorneys Robert Shaddox and Lekha Gopalakrishnan will be judges in the 2020 competition.
This year’s competitors come from a wide spectrum of fields including healthcare (medical device and therapeutics/Rx), IT/sensors, energy and clean energy technology. Semifinalists undergo a rigorous screening, due diligence and a coaching process that identifies them as top prospects from a pool of nearly 100 applicants. The awards will allow the startups that receive them to create economic impact and job growth.
"We are thrilled to have Winstead as a longtime partner of TNVC,” said Chris Scotti, Chair of the Texas A&M New Ventures Competition. “Their financial support of the main prize pool helps us make the most impact to the winners, and Winstead is a great resource to the entrepreneurial commercialization ecosystem that we serve!"
