Dallas, Texas, Sept. 15, 2016, —Rakhee V. Patel, a restructuring and bankruptcy attorney with more than 20 years of experience, has joined Winstead PC as a shareholder in the firm’s Dallas office.

Patel represents public and private clients, debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, landlords, equity holders, trustees and committees in matters relating to corporate reorganization, business bankruptcy, out-of-court restructuring and bankruptcy-related-litigation.

Patel received her J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 1996 after which she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Harlin D. “Cooter” Hale, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Texas, and for the Honorable Robert C. McGuire, former Chief Judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.

She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Texas Minority Counsel Program for the State Bar of Texas, and a member of the John C. Ford Inn of Court. She earned selection to D Magazine’s 2015 listing of the Best Lawyers in Dallas. She also was named to the 2013 and 2014 Texas Super Lawyers listings published by Thomson Reuters Legal.

Patel joins Winstead’s Business Restructuring/Bankruptcy practice, which is led by shareholder Phil Lamberson. Winstead’s Business Restructuring/Bankruptcy Practice Group has extensive experience representing clients in both in-court bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructurings across a wide range of industries. They regularly represent the major constituents, including creditors, debtors and purchasers of distressed assets, in restructuring proceedings throughout the Southwest and the United States.

Patel was previously a partner at Shackelford, Bowen, McKinley & Norton, LLP in Dallas.
