Winstead’s Kristin Kruse Named HYLA’s Woodrow B. Seals Outstanding Young Lawyer
Houston, TX, July 15, 2015 — Winstead PC associate Kristin Kruse has been named the Houston Young Lawyers Association Woodrow B. Seals Outstanding Young Lawyer of Houston for 2015. The award is based on an attorney's professional proficiency, service to the profession, and service to the community. Kruse is the first Winstead attorney to receive this award. Past recipients include former Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, retired Texas Supreme Court Justice Tom Philips, and Governor Greg Abbott.
A member of Winstead's Business Litigation Practice Group, Kruse focuses her practice on commercial, business, and energy litigation and appeals in federal and state court. She has litigated and provided advice on indemnity, insurance coverage, and bad-faith allegations on behalf of corporate clients and insurance companies in industries related to oil field services, transportation, maritime and construction.
Kruse is a member of the American Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. She served as co-chair for the Gender Fairness Committee for the HBA and she is a member of the HBA Appellate Section. Kruse speaks German and studied as a Rotary Foundation Scholar at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. She supports various Houston civic and charitable organizations including the United Way Young Leaders, the German-American Chamber of Commerce of Houston, and the Texas A&M Liberal Arts Advisory Council. She received her J.D. from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law where she was the managing editor of the SMU Law Review.
Kruse was honored on May 4, 2015, at the Houston Young Lawyers Association’s Law Day Luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel.
