Brad Monk


Brad Monk is a trial lawyer with a broad range of litigation experience.  He devotes the majority of his practice to resolving disputes in the healthcare, oil and gas, real estate, and finance and banking industries, and he has significant experience in high-profile jury trials, including first chair trial experience in a complex oil and gas/land use case.  Brad regularly advises his clients on their business interests and disputes and, when necessary, utilizes the courts to protect and enforce the rights of his clients, which range from privately held start-ups to publicly traded companies ranked in the top ten of the Fortune 500.  He has extensive experience in state and federal courts and in arbitration proceedings and has prevailed as first chair trial counsel in fraud, breach of contract, oil and gas, and personal injury cases.  Brad's extensive litigation experience also includes representing clients in disputes involving issues of professional liability, trade secret, medical device, non-compete, and product liability.


  • First chair trial counsel in jury trial for oil and gas exploration company, resulting in a $44.5 million judgment in favor of the firm’s client; this is the one of the largest reported jury verdict in Texas for 2020 and is currently on appeal
  • Lead trial counsel in one of the first trials by Zoom in Texas, resulting in $2 million judgment in favor of financial services client
  • Regularly handles cases for both plaintiffs and defendants, from start to finish, whether through settlement or trial
  • Regularly advises private companies and their owners in “Business Divorce” disputes
  • Obtained pre-suit settlement for clinical laboratory client against medical billing services provider
  • Defended a comprehensive dental practice services company and its affiliated network of children’s dental healthcare providers in malpractice and fraud claims brought by Medicaid recipients 
  • Obtained dismissal of healthcare client in wrongful death claim
  • Obtained a complete defense verdict as lead trial counsel for a real estate management company in a premises liability claim 
  • Defended and provided counsel to both individuals and employers on trade secrets and noncompete issues
  • Defended regional and international engineering firms against professional liability claims in Texas and throughout the United States
  • Served as coordinating counsel for suits brought against an international manufacturer of plumbing component parts
